Powered by Google, Neutroodle is a new green search engine that challenges you to measure, manage and minimize your impact on the environment. Neutroodle itself is an “end-to-end carbon neutral” site.
CO2Stats, independent emissions experts, monitor all of the electricity used in relation to this site. This includes the servers that host the site, network that transfer information around the web and the computers that view Neutroodle. The energy used is estimated and offset.
“Organizations should take responsibility for the entire impact of their online presence, including the energy used at the consumer end,” said Andrew Haynes, Neutroodle’s founder. ”We recognize that this is a paradigm shift but it represents an opportunity, not a cost. That is why we’ve taken the bold step of taking responsibility ourselves.”
The 26-year-old resident of Newcastle, Australia, says that using Google to power his new search engine ensures users will get the search results they need while “reducing their carbon footprint and fighting climate change.”
